Singapore Internet Exchange

To reinforce Singapore’s status as a leading info-communications hub in the Asia-Pacific region, the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) facilitated the creation of Singapore Internet Exchange (SGIX) in 2009. As an industry-owned Internet Exchange provider, SGIX attracts international and regional carriers to establish Singapore as their Internet hub, while simultaneously encouraging content providers to host their digital assets within the country.

SGIX operates a nationwide Internet peering network, with peering points strategically deployed across major data centres. This seamless and efficient exchange of data traffic benefits a wide spectrum of connected peers, including telecommunications providers, IP transit operators, content and social media platforms, video streaming services, cloud providers, content distribution networks, online gaming companies, educational institutions, and research organizations.

Since its incorporation, SGIX has expanded significantly and is now one of the largest open and neutral Internet Exchanges in Asia. By fostering a more interconnected and competitive digital ecosystem, SGIX plays a pivotal role in strengthening Singapore’s global connectivity and technological leadership.
